Carex lambertiana is a vibrant sedge with bright yellow and green leaves that form large clumps, reaching up to 60 cm in height. The plant is further distinguished by its dark reddish-brown flowering stems. Native to New Zealand, this sedge is often used in landscaping for adding colour and texture to garden borders or as a striking contrast plant in mixed plantings.
Carex lambertiana prefers moist, well-drained soils and can tolerate a variety of conditions, including wind and frost. While it is not specifically coastal tolerant, it performs well in sheltered sites. With a moderate growth rate, it is an excellent choice for both ornamental and ecological plantings.
