Olearia macrodonta (New Zealand or Mountain Holly) is an evergreen medium shrub or small tree native to New Zealand, typically growing to a height of up to 3m. The plant features light green, oval-shaped leaves, ranging from 5–10 cm in length, with serrated edges resembling those of holly, which is why it is commonly known as New Zealand holly. In late spring to early summer, it produces large panicles of white flowers, which emit a musky fragrance. This species is well-suited for landscaping and restoration projects, particularly in coastal or lowland areas. It thrives in well-drained soils and is moderately frost-hardy, making it adaptable to various conditions. The plant's attractive foliage and fragrant flowers make it an excellent choice for shelter, hedging, and native gardens.
