Project Overview
Flock Hill Lodge is a luxury accommodation located in the stunning Canterbury High Country, an area renowned for its dramatic landscapes, rolling hills, and natural beauty. The lodge is a retreat for those seeking an escape into nature while enjoying high-end comfort and amenities. To enhance the lodge's connection with its environment, a comprehensive landscaping plan was put in place, emphasising the use of native plants that would thrive in the unique conditions of the High Country.
Project Scope and Challenges
The project involved the integration of 30,000 native plants into the lodge's landscape, with the goal of blending the built environment seamlessly with the surrounding natural beauty. Given the remote location and the specific environmental conditions of the Canterbury High Country, the project presented unique challenges. Riverside Horticulture was tasked with not only supplying plants from their own stock but also sourcing additional, aesthetic trees and plants from suppliers across the country to meet the diverse needs of the landscape design.
Riverside Horticulture's Approach
Riverside Horticulture brought their extensive experience and knowledge to the project, ensuring that the selected plants were well-suited to the High Country environment. Andrew, one of Riverside’s key team members, played a crucial role in planning and executing the landscaping vision. His practical approach, combined with a deep understanding of the region’s flora, ensured that the project progressed smoothly. Riverside’s ability to coordinate with multiple suppliers and manage the logistics of plant delivery was instrumental in meeting the project's demands.
